Have you ever heard of a CSA?  It stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  You pay a farmer at the beginning of the season and then they grow different foods for you called a share.  The foods will then be delivered to a farmer’s market, to your house, or a local co-op.  From what I’ve heard, the fruits and vegetables are 10x better through the CSA.  But that doesn’t shock me.  We all know how good the tomatoes are that grow in the garden or how yummy those strawberries are that grow in your own yard are.

This week I mailed off our CSA agreement with New Century CSA.  They also have an additional fruit option which we signed up for.  YUMMY!

So for my Thursday Thirteen, I am listing 13 (of their many!) foods that I am looking forward to getting.

There are a ton of other fruits and veggies, but those are the most popular in our house.  It will be an adventure in our house because the boys are not big veggie eaters.

I thought about this quote yesterday.  Lately, when I moan and groan in my head about how things in my life have changed, I am trying to remind myself that change is good.  At least, the changes in my life are good.  They are, right?  ;) 

The big thing on my mind  today is that my little “monster” as he was previously known is now four years old.   It is so weird to me. He is turning into such a little man!  So please indulge me as I post some pictures of him.  His birthday was on the 23rd.

He definitely keeps my life from being boring. :) 

I am trying to get over to all of my old blogging friends.  It is just taking me a while.  I promise I am coming for a visit!

Hmmm how life has changed since I was here last. 

1. We are no longer residents on the rock.
2. We are now living in Ohio.
3. I have basically been a single mom since October but that will be changing when my DH gets here.  YEA! I am counting down the days!
4. Evan turned 4 this week.
5. Evan is now in a real preschool environment and is doing really well!!  All of that worry for nothing.
6. I am looking for a job as I type this.
7. This blog will no longer be about my struggles a a SAHM, it will be changing to my struggles as a mom out of the job market for 4 years and trying to get back into the rat race
8. Hopefully, it will soon change to my struggles as a working mom. Cross your fingers I find a job soon!
9. DH will be exiting the military.
10. DH will be going back to school full time and be a part time SAHD. 
11. I’ve gained weight!  :(  If only I were one of those people who loses weight when they are stressed out.  Instead I am the opposite…..I pile on the pounds.
12. I will graduate in May with my master’s.  Well, as long as I keep my hiney in gear to finish up.
13. We bought a house that is older than my grandpa! It was built in 1924.  DH calls it our personal money pit.  It isn’t a fixer upper, per say, but it does need some work in our opinion.

I grew up with one sister, a mom, and a dad that worked a lot.  My dad was gone quite a bit so we had an overabundance of estrogen in the house. 

My how my life as a mom is different.  Now, I have the opposite problem - too much testosterone.  My two sweet boys and hubby are the definite majority. 

I’ve always known that men and boys were obsessed with penises.    What I didn’t know is that it starts at such a young age. 

**Evan, who is not particularly obsessed (he will one day kill me for posting this information on the internet) with his package, was sitting on the floor in the living room in a t-shirt and underwear.  I wasn’t really paying attention to him until he said, “Mom, look!”  “Look at my penis.  It is big!  It gets bigger when I touch it.” 

Oh boy, I thought.  Not knowing exactly what to say.  He then asked me why that it got bigger.  Why do I have boys?  I never did answer the question and he forgot about it. 

**Little Cooper, on the other hand, is quite into his penis.  Anytime his diaper comes off, he throws that hand down there as if he were trying to protect it.   Because he is at an age where he wants to learn and say new words, he has started saying “Penisssssssssssssssss”.    The other night I was getting him ready for bed, and the little guy broke out into song.  No, it wasn’t Twinkle Twinkle or You are my Sunshine……no it was
“Penissssssssssss, Penisssssssssssssss, Penisssssssssssssssssss” 
He really did break into some kind of tune saying the word over and over.  I had to laugh, but in my head I was thinking……

Why do I have boys?

 Will I survive the times when I catch them masturbating? My DH tells me that it WILL happen. 

What about the first time they have sex?  They won’t do that, will they?  Maybe I can push them to be priests????  I don’t think that will happen, but a mom can try.

As much as I love my little guys, I am not looking forward to all of those types of experiences in the life of being a mom to boys. 

Not sure if I have anyone left that reads this, but I wanted to post.  I miss my bloggity friends and blog time.    I had to take some time away because I just was not spending time with the boys because I was always reading and writing blog ’stuff’. Thank you for all the comments and emails…it means a lot to me!!

We are still here in Cuba but not for long.  Our long awaited plane ride will be here in a few weeks.  Woohoo!  

My dear ,sweet Evan seems to be improving a bit.  We still have days that I want to drown in a bottle of tequila, but we are also having more days that I do not.  What an improvement!  Although, I know as I type this - we will take 2 steps back.  That always is the case - you say life is good and take a step forward and then you jinx it and go back 2.   

Cooper is growing like a weed.  Talking, running, and walking everywhere.  He has a little temper.  I actually saw Evan run from Cooper today when Cooper was ticked off.  It was quite amusing.  Karma is a bitch, I guess. 

I will try to post more often, and I will try to get over to see some of you this week.

I left the boys’ pool full of water overnight last week.   I should have known better.  We have too many critters here that like water like that.  We found one of poisonous toads swimming around in it.  These toads secrete some sort of toxin out of their back when they are in danger (like when they are in a dog’s mouth!).

What is it with boys and guns and swords?

Every stick that Evan picks up these days is a sword or gun.  We do not have any guns or swords in our house…except for one broken squirt gun.  I don’t even think we ever called that a gun. 

He new fascination is the extension tube that connects to the vaccum cleaner.  He says that it is his horse (he gallops around the house on it), but I am noticing that it is becoming more of a sword.

Is this some sort of testosterone thing?  Should it be discouraged? I am not asking for answers…I just an unsure what I should be doing.  Right now, we just tell him no pointing at people or animals.

Dh and I go back and forth on the idea of having a third child.  Well, it really isn’t back and forth - it is pretty much one sided.  The conversation pretty much goes like this….

Me - “Don’t you think it would be great to have one more baby?”

Him - “No”

Me - “Really?  Oh think of it…a sweet little baby girl! You would love her!”

Him - “First off, we would have a third boy.  Second, I can’t imagine going through all of that again.  You want another baby just when the other two are starting to grow up a little bit.  Why??”  He says that as he shakes head and rolls his eyes.

We go round and round during those conversations. 

So I try convince myself that he is right.  I should be happy with my two beautiful boys.

That convincing works for a little while.

Then I hold someone’s baby or see pictures of my girlfriend’s new son or hear news that one of my oldest friends is pregnant again  and all of that convincing goes out the window. 

I do want another.  Not now, of couse.  Having a baby wouldn’t be “convenient” right now or for the next 2 1/2 years.  But one day, I do want that sweet baby girl. 

It seems that Evan is quite annoyed with his little brother these days.    When Cooper is frustrated, he cries and hits Evan (this usually follows Evan taking a toy away from Cooper).   I frequently remind him that he is Coop’s teacher.  Cooper does what he does. 

Well, I guess he’s had enough.  We are noticing him saying the same thing over and over this week…..

“I want Cooper to go back into Mommy’s tummy!” 

Is it bad of me to think to myself sometimes that I wish that HE could go back in my tummy?   Ok, hauling a 40 lb kid in my stomach doesn’t sound pleasant…maybe I shouldn’t think that. 

With that being said, we are having a good week.  Thank goodness!
